The owners came to us with a north-facing block, a clear budget and a plan they had already outgrown. Rather than adjust it, we went back to the site: the courtyard moved to the centre of the plan, the living wing turned to catch winter sun, and the garage was pushed forward to shelter the entry from the westerly.
The result is a home that runs comfortably without leaning on mechanical heating and cooling, delivered inside the original contract sum with no structural variations.
